With winter now here to stay and Rock Lake frozen solid, it’s time to celebrate with the annual Knickerbocker Ice Festival, named after the company that harvested ice from Rock Lake in the early 1900s. The Lake Mills Main Street Program will host a weekend full of indoor and outdoor events to connect Lake Mills with our icy past.
In the past, winter activities on Rock Lake and in Lake Mills included harvesting ice from one of the clearest and cleanest lakes in southern Wisconsin. Today, festival goers can participate in a number of fun activities starting Friday night with a trivia contest or candlelight skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. On Saturday, Lake Mills is full of activities for all ages– view over 17 ice carvings, participate in park games for the kids, ice skating, a fisheree, an outdoor bags tournament, fat tire bike ride across the lake, golf and softball on the frozen lake, just to name a few!
