Celebrating Barn Quilts in Jefferson County

Jefferson County is filled with beautiful farms, which means that barn quilts, like this beautiful sunburst style quilt near Helenville, are a common site to see.

The Jefferson  County Area Tourism Council has been working hard over the years to bring attention to these one-of-a-kind works of art. We’ve even made it easy for you to take a self-guided tour!  Map out your route

About the Happy Days Sunburst Star:

The barn quilt on Tom and Leigh Cheesebro’s barn is called ‘Happy Days Sunburst Star’. It is an original design by Tawney Hadler, with Leigh’s input. Leigh’s desire was to have green, her favorite color, dominant in the quilt. She chose yellow and orange as the complimentary colors, and it turned out bright and cheery. The quilt was a gift for Leigh from her husband. The 1850’s barn was once used for livestock, including cows, pigs and horses.
