Whitewater Storytelling Festival September 23rd – 25th
Grab your imagination and head to Whitewater, WI for the magical Whitewater Storytelling Festival happening this weekend! The weekend will be filled with many opportunities to enjoy and engage with local and regional storytellers and the enchanting art of storytelling! Happening all weekend . . . .
Enjoy a fun story stroll all weekend with your family. You’ll be able to read a wonderful children’s book as you stroll throughout the downtown area of Whitewater any time you want beginning on Thursday afternoon! There are also several art galleries in Whitewater that have some amazing shows we encourage folks to check out! Hours vary for the galleries so check out the event web page for information.

Introduction to Telling Family Stories workshop w/Jim May
Join renowned storyteller Jim May as he shares his wisdom and expertise with new and seasoned storytellers on how to be your family’s storyteller!

Children’s workshop “Guess How Much I Love You”
Join Noelle Larson, music and art therapist, for this free workshop for children and families, which will be a celebration of Music, Movement, Children’s Stories, and Family Love.

Other literary happenings . . . .
Crafts for the kids will be offered by the local Ice Age Trail Alliance chapter and the Whitewater Parks & Rec. department. The craft station will be next to the Children’s Storytelling Tent
- Ice Age Trail Craft – 11:00 am to 12 noon
- Whitewater Parks & Rec Craft – 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
We will also have a wonderful face painting artist set up from 1-2:30 in the park and a reading zone where you can grab a book and a place on the lawn to read and relax with the kids.
Artisan Market
We will have an outdoor market running from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday in Cravath Lakefront Park in the green space along Whitewater St. The highlight of the market will be the Typewriter Tarts who deliver poetry on the spot to patrons. Give them an emotion, an event, a person, or any topic of your choice and they will write a short poem and perform it for you.
Local Author Visit
Local author Steve Rhinelander author of Poutine and Gin will be reading excerpts from his newest book at The Book Teller at 5:00 pm. Stop by to hear about a hard-boiled detective in an alternate historical setting in Wisconsin.
Musical performance at UW-Whitewater
The Music Mosaics season at UWW kicks off with a recital showcasing the entire Dept. of Music performance faculty! Tickets can be purchased at tickets.uww.edu.
Happening Sunday, September 23rd
Cars & Coffee . . . and Tales
9:00 am to 12 noon on the grounds of the Lake Home Info real estate offices out near Whitewater Lake at W7644 Kettle Moraine Dr.
Join this free family-friendly car show event nestled in the Kettle Moraine on the last day of the festival! All makes and models are welcome, and we’ll have an open mic set up to hear the stories and tales of the cars, their owners, and their travels. Local coffee roaster Nordskov Coffee will be there along with The Sweet Spot and The Black Sheep to provide some treats for your morning.
