Community Conversation: The Lands We Share

A collaboration of faculty and students at four UW campuses (UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Madison), The Lands We Share initiative includes a traveling exhibition and public dialogue tour that focuses on the intersection of farming, land, ethnic culture, and history in Wisconsin. The exhibit will feature the stories, histories, artifacts, images and sounds of six culturally and regionally distinct farms and farm sites and invites visitors to share their own stories, insights and questions. The featured Johnson Creek farm is the Dettmann Dairy Farm.

Each stop on the tour will include a three-week run at a community-based venue near one of the six sites and a farm-to-table Community Conversation. The Johnson Creek Exhibit Venue will be at Village Hall, 125 Depot Street, and runs January 4-26 (see separate calendar listing).

Reservations are required for the Community Conversation and there is a $5 charge for the dinner (collected as cash only at the door). Information on reservations may be found at the Lands We Share Website.

The Lands We Share program aims to bring together people and groups from diverse backgrounds who are often separated despite living and working in close proximity. Tour organizers hope that participants will identify common interests and discuss shared community visions by drawing on shared personal or family experiences on the land, in farming or with food.

The 35th Annual Watertown Bridal Fair will include over 50 wedding related vendor booths and beautiful raffle prizes! Admission is FREE.
