November 2, 2016 – Wisconsin’s John Muir – An Illustrated talk by Michael Edmonds

Presenter Michael Edmonds of the Wisconsin Historical Society will focus on Muir’s youth in Wisconsin, his conservation work, and the influence he had on later Wisconsin environmentalists. The talk accompanies the exhibit, “Wisconsin’s John Muir”, that contains facsimiles of rare Muir photographs and manuscripts from the Society’s archives. That exhibit will be available for viewing Oct. 26 through Nov. 2. Also featured is an exhibit from Jefferson’s own River’s Edge Nature Preserve chronicling their campaign to create a monarch way station. A Potluck Dinner will be held at 5:00 pm before Mr. Edmond’s presentation. Bring a dish to pass-table service and water provided. John Muir exhibit is made possible by the support of the estate of John Peters and the Follett Charitable Trust.

axis-dance-companyAXIS Dance Company exists to change the face of dance and disability. Based in Oakland, CA, AXIS is one of the world’s most acclaimed and innovative ensembles of performers with and without disabilities. Under the Artistic Direction of Judith Smith, the Company has collaborated with leading contemporary choreographers and composers, touring all over the world. AXIS was featured twice on FOX TV’s So You Think You Can Dance and has been honored with seven Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. This repertory program will include To Go Again (2015), a dance theatre work that brings to light the issues facing our nation’s veterans and addresses their resiliance following severe life changes.
