Welcome to the Jefferson Historical Museum located in the old City Police Station behind Jefferson’s City Hall. Here you will find 15 rooms and halls devoted to Jefferson’s 183- year history. Some rooms focus on specific themes such as “The Doctor’s Office,” “The Bridal Room”,” The Military Room,” and “The Music Room.” Room 15, the largest room, consists of artifacts and pictures of famous old businesses like Heger’s Brewery, Puerner’s Department Store, Schweigers Manufacturing and Heilemann’s Ice Cream. Also famous old institutions such as Ladish Malt, St. Coletta, and the Jefferson County Home are highlighted. In addition, there is a library containing old high school annuals and area history books. And, there is a Research room where one can research local family history as well as old homes and businesses.
