Deck The House Kicks Off in Jefferson County!
The Deck the House promotion is a first-year event that came together so quickly with a vision sparked by Fort Atkinson Parks & Recreation and morphed into a countywide collaboration celebration!
The Deck the House event encourages local Jefferson County residents to list their holiday-decorated homes into a competition for local prizes and create a holiday lights map for communities to share with residents. In a year when many holiday events have been cancelled or changed to accommodate COVID safety, this event allows for viewing holiday lights in a safe way. As always, the Jefferson County Tourism Council encourages all to practice COVID-responsible safety guidelines when visiting or participating in events. Check out these links from the CDC, State, and Jefferson County for the best safety practices.
Many thanks to Jefferson County Parks who contacted both the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson County Tourism Council to join in this fun promotion! Within this collaborative effort, there’s a wonderful mix of parks departments, chambers of commerce, tourism entities, and Jefferson County communities coming together to inspire joy and merriment during these difficult times.
Participating communities in the Deck the House countywide holiday lights decorating contest and touring map include: Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Cambridge, Watertown, Whitewater, and Johnson Creek.
Winners will be announced on December 21st!
The top vote getter from each community will advance to the next voting round to crown the countywide winner by year’s end. The countywide winner will receive a holiday prize package from the Jefferson County Tourism Council. Be sure to check back on our Jefferson County Tourism Facebook page for additional updates on how to vote for the countywide winner.
It has been quite a year. We at the Jefferson County Area Tourism Council wish you and yours a peaceful, safe, and happy holiday season!
