Jefferson County Supper Club Tour
Supper Clubs are a Wisconsin institution. Great food, a cozy atmosphere, and an old-fashioned in your hand. While all supper clubs are restaurants, not all restaurants are supper clubs. What’s the distinction? Internet searches have several answers, but experience will tell you that a supper club serves a high-end supper featuring steak, seafood, traditional sides, and an unforgettable Friday fish fry. Lighting will be low and cozy, and walls will be wood or wallpapered. Then there’s the cocktail – a brandy old-fashioned made to perfection. The supper club experience can be enjoyed throughout Jefferson County.
Watertown
Watertown is home to two iconic choices. Elias Inn Supper Club and Donny’s Girl II Supper Club have stood the test of time. Both supper clubs are well known for their prime rib dinner and fish fry. Elias Inn, opened in 1987, provides each table with a lazy-Susan relish tray. The complimentary tray arrives at your table full of spreads, crackers, sides, and even pickled herring. It’s a great start to your meal and a conversation piece! Reservations are suggested. Donny’s Girl is another stop that can’t be missed. After your delicious meal, be sure to order the homemade strawberry schaum torte for dessert. Elias Inn and Donny’s Girl were recently sold to new owners. Both are open for business and continue to receive rave reviews! Watertown will soon be welcoming a third supper club. Silver Moon Supper Club plans to open in 2022.
Jefferson
Guests can partake in a farm-to-table experience at The Edgewater Supper Club, where the ingredients are gathered from area family farmsteads. This Jefferson stop boasts high quality drinks from historic recipes, and homemade desserts. In the 1920’s the building was used as a gambling locale for the Canadian mob. Ask to see the hidden money drop!
Fort Atkinson
Atmosphere is everything, and the recent renovation of the Stagecoach Inn in Fort Atkinson will give you all the supper club feels. Stonework, woodwork, and a cozy fireplace. Settle in to enjoy their delicious menu and live entertainment on select dates.
Johnson Creek
There’s a special ambiance at Hi-Way Harry’s in Johnson Creek. Not only will you enjoy an extensive menu and wine list, you will be in a glamorous but comfortable restaurant designed by Frank-Lloyd Wright protégé, James Dresser. The location includes two private meeting rooms, a wine cave, and an outdoor patio.
Take a tour of Jefferson County through your taste buds. We highly recommend you try them all.
