Let’s Goat to the 2020 Jefferson County Fair Park for a Year Full of Fun!
February 15, 2020 – Janelle Wenzel crowned 2020 Jefferson County Fairest of the Fair
After two rounds of interviews, a public speaking presentation, writing a radio ad and answering a final question, a winner in the 2020 Jefferson County Fairest of the Fair competition was chosen.
2020 Jefferson County Fairest of the Fair, Janelle Wenzel.
Rising to the top was Sullivan, native, Janelle Wenzel. Janelle has a passion for the fair and grew up showing pigs at the Jefferson County Fair and Wisconsin State Fair.
After receiving the title, Janelle stated that she “Wants to thank her friends and family for supporting her through this competition and for instilling the love of the county fair in her. Thank you to the other 5 fairest contestants for being like a family and supporting one another through the judging process. And thank you also to the judges for teaching us about ourselves and for being great role models in the community.”
Five other contestants from across Jefferson County, in addition to Janelle, competed for the title of “2020 Jefferson County Fairest of the Fair”. Each of these contestants will serve as Fair Royalty for 2020. Janelle will be working the Fair Park staff to promote the Jefferson County Dairy Breakfast: May 16, Jefferson County Fair: July 8-12 and Jefferson County Agriculture throughout the next year! If you would like Janelle to attend an event, contact the Fair Park office.
We couldn’t have done it without each and every community in Jefferson County’s support however. When called upon, Jefferson County’s finest bakeries and cafe’s stepped up to the plate and donated desserts that were raffled off during the finals competition. The bakeries and restaurants that took part were Jelli’s Market in Helenville, Edge of Town Cafe in Palmyra, Sweet Talkin’ Treats from Watertown, The SweetSpot Bakehouse in Whitewater, the Pine Cone in Johnson Creek, Malicki’s Piggly Wiggly in Jefferson and Hoard’s Dairyman in Fort Atkinson donated to cheese to round out the dessert auction. Money from the auction will help fund the scholarship that the Fairest of the Fair receives.
