Top 5 Things To Do In Jefferson County

Members of the Jefferson County Tourism Council (JCTC) represent communities throughout Jefferson County. During the pandemic we have continued to meet, virtually, to discuss how the pandemic has changed and affected our communities.

As many of you know, the tourism and hospitality industry was one of the first affected in devastating ways. Many were forced to cancel and change their 2020 travel plans, as events were cancelled, and establishments closed for safety reasons.

Know that we at JCTC continually monitor the websites of the Center for Disease Control’s Considerations for Travelers – Coronavirus in the US, the State, and County to be aware of travel guidelines and mandates.

That said, as a team, JCTC decided to remain positive and looked for ways to help. We surveyed our members and came up with the TOP 5 THINGS TO DO in Jefferson County. It’s a list of fun options to explore, SAFELY, in Jefferson County. You’ll see we have great outdoor recreational activities that are waiting to explore and naturally offer social distancing. From paddling on the Rock River or nearby lakes; biking or hiking our great trails like the Glacial River Trail; and enjoying history and the outdoors in our state and local parks like Aztalan State Park, we are a perfect destination to experience Wisconsin’s beauty. Be sure to check out our website for information on ideas to explore now and later.

As many of our communities’ restaurants and retail establishments are fully following CDC, state, and county mandates and guidelines, we encourage all visitors to view the websites of individual businesses and organizations to learn how they are keeping their customers and visitors safe during this time. We also strongly encourage visitors to practice safe habits, including maintaining social distancing, wearing face coverings, washing hands frequently, and avoiding face touching.

We know times are tough and we hope by providing this list and information, we offer ways to safely explore now during the pandemic and later. Additional ideas across the state may be found at the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s website, Travel Wisconsin.

We look forward to sharing all the ways you can enjoy Jefferson County!
