A Watertown Holiday Movie 3

A Watertown Holiday Movie 3

Published On: Thursday, December 8, 2022By Categories: Blog, Explore Jefferson County, Holiday

It’s that time of year. A time to hustle and bustle our days away, then decompress at night with the guilty pleasure of a Christmas movie. Watertown is no stranger to a great holiday movie. In fact, there are two scripts already written that took place in Watertown. Ok, they were written by me, and shared right here on this blog, but still legitimate all the same. Should we go for that third Watertown holiday movie? I think so…

A Sad Prince

Once upon a time there was a prince from the land of Cordinia. His days were full of the unending responsibilities that his role requires. Handshakes and photos, full uniform, and four-course dinners. It was tiresome and bland. Our leading man was at his wit’s end. He needed a break, and there was no time like the present. But where could he go? A quick internet search would find him the perfect place. Free from the press, and in a land where no one knew his name or face. Watertown, WI. Yes, Watertown will do just fine. He left the next day, on the ruse that he was improving international relations.

Home Sweet Home

Our prince chartered a private jet and flew directly into the Watertown Municipal Airport. Within minutes he was dropped off at the beautiful rental he reserved. He wanted privacy, but also wanted to be where the action of the city took place. Home sweet home. He was very pleased with his accommodations.

Getting to Know Watertown

The next morning, he wanted to get the lay of the land, so he stopped at the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce. Surely they would know where to find the best coffee and dining options throughout the day. They could even guide him to the best local holiday events. After getting the information he needed, he struck up a conversation with a charming customer. Her pleasant demeanor and warm smile were all he needed to feel welcome in this town. His accent quickly gave him away, and the customer knew he was far from home, so she offered to show him around the city.

Sip and Shop

They started with a coffee at Latte Donatte. He chose a holiday flavor and was delighted with his choice. Coffee didn’t quite quench his appetite, so they continued to Main Street Café just a couple blocks away. A skillet and pancakes for the win! Another meal he could get used to. Our prince was truly enjoying himself with his lovely companion and asked if she could help him with his Christmas shopping list. They hit all 24 downtown shops, and he found incredible gifts, including books at Literatus & Co., boutique items at Ava’s – a Posh Boutique and The Chic Boutique. He found several gifts at Pine Hill Farm Collective+ Market, and he still didn’t want the day to end. Our lady felt the same and decided to join him at dinner at Elias Inn Supper Club for an intimate dinner for two. Maybe it was the aura of the holiday, maybe it was the brandy old fashioneds, our couple was falling in love.

Falling in Love with Watertown

Our Prince was scheduled to spend a week in Watertown, but that just wouldn’t do. He extended his reservations and before you know it, he had attended the holiday tree lighting, the Christmas Parade of Lights, the Live Nativity, holiday plays, and he even had a visit with Santa at Santa House. He wasn’t only falling in love with our leading lady, he was falling in love with Watertown. But his family would never allow him to move to Watertown or marry a commoner.

The Lie

After several chance, and several intentional run-ins with our leading lady, the Prince decided to tell her that he wasn’t just a tourist. He invited her to walk Main Street with him to vote on the holiday window decorating contest, Watertown Window Wonderland. As they strolled the 9-block Main Street, taking in all the beautiful participants, the Prince decided now was the time. He hastily told our lady that he was indeed a Prince. From Cordinia. And his time in Watertown was limited. Our lady was quite upset and ran to console herself at the city’s Christmas tree at Sharp Corner Park. How could she ever trust someone that told such a big lie? She never wanted to see him again.

A Happy Reunion

The next evening, our lady was attending the CP Holiday Train’s stop at Brandt-Quirk Park. The bonfire, the luminary hike, and that beautifully decorated train rolling into town made her emotional. Watching the happy families with their great big smiles made her miss the prince. He was the only one she wanted to share this moment with. And then she saw him. Our Prince had a miserable couple of days without our lady, and decided that nothing could stop him from having the life he wanted. He would have his lady and they would live in Watertown.

The Proposal

Our Prince walked up to our lady and got down on bended knee. He declared his love and opened a ring box with a beautiful diamond from Bradow Jewelers. Our leading lady had never been so happy and said “yes!”

A Year Later

Our Prince and Lady were married in the summer at The Hay Loft with all their local and international friends and family. The ambiance was incredible, the gown from Sandra D’s Bridal was unmatched, the cake from Chandler House Bakery was pure art. But nothing shined brighter than the couple themselves. At present day, the prince and our lady are getting ready for their first Christmas as a married couple. They’re making plans to get a real tree from CW Christmas Trees, to trim it with beautiful ornaments from Far Horizons Imports, and a garland of freshly popped popcorn from Tietz Family Farms . It’s sure to be a season full of Watertown memories.

And they all lived happily ever after.
