Patriotic LeMoyne Star
The patriotic barn quilt hanging on Bernie and Chris Motl’s barn was inspired by barn quilts in Grundy County, Iowa. Being a quilter herself, Chris chose the La Moyne Star pattern. She felt this was a simple pattern that would look good up close and from a distance. Bernie then constructed the quilt. The round red barn was built in 2004 as a workshop and storage. All the stonework was done by Bernie himself. Their barn is the first known round barn in Jefferson County, and it has been photographed and painted many times.
